My Little Darling Layout

Hey everyone! Samantha here with another project for you. Since this week's weekly challenge is particularly challenging, I thought I would give you another project idea. There is still time to enter for this week, so get that project ready and show us what you can think up!

In this layout, can you see my Copics?? Look really closely :)
Yep, you guessed it. . . those flowers were AIRBRUSHED! Let me say it again in case you don't already know. . .

I LOVE THE COPIC AIRBRUSH SYSTEM! It is one of my most favorite things about Copics.  If you don't yet own one or haven't tried you, you need to! They are so neat!

On this layout, my plain old white paper flowers were transformed with Copics. I used the following colors:
BGG72, BG75, and BG78.  I just started with my lightest color and added the darker two colors in small amounts to give the flowers a slight variation in shading. I didn't want them to look all flat and boring.

To create my banner, I used some of my favorite SP and Company stamps: Pretty Pendants stamp set, and Kokimo Background. I also used the lovely Bold Sentiments I stamp set to create the sentiment on the banner coming out of one flower. The little pup in the photo has definitely got my true love.

Well that is all I have for you all today. Make sure to play along this week and I will see y'all back here tomorrow for the winner announcement.

Lawn Fawn Magnets ~

Hi iCopic friends!  Alyssa here!  The iCopic Weekly Challenge #40 is Anything But a Card!  I was inspired by this challenge to make a little game set for my son.  We'll be taking a road trip later this summer to go visit my in-laws in Missouri, so I'll need some things to pass the time with my little guy.  I have some magnet sheets in my stash that I use for various things - mainly for storage cards for my die cuts.  The back of the magnet sheet is white paper... light bulb moment!  I've seen cookie sheet calendars in the past, but I thought maybe I could make my son a set of magnets to play with in the car!

I chose to use the adorable Lawn Fawn Critters in the Forest clear acrylic set.  I took all of the image stamps in the set and put them on my largest stamping block.  Instead of wasting my nice Copic paper, I stamped directly on the back of the magnet sheet and colored everything up with my markers.

Once they were all colored up and cut out, I rimmed the edges with a black marker to finish them off!  Easy!  Now we can make up funny little stories with them while we're driving through corn fields as far as the eye can see!  lol
Don't forget!  Copic prices increase on Monday!!!  Get your orders in now!

Hope you're inspired to play along with our challenge this week!  One random winner will get their choice of 4 Copic Ciao markers!  Have a super weekend!!  :o) lyss

Copics {110 Special Black, B21, B24,BG99, BV25, C1, E09, E17, E23, E25, E29, E43, E71, E74, E81, E87, G29, R14, R17, R20, R37, YG06, YG09, YR07, YR30, YR31, W1, W3, W5, W7, W9}

Grandma Tag

Hi everyone, Kelli here!  This weeks challenge is to make "anything but a card", which I think is SO much fun because it gets me out of my comfort zone.  I am almost strictly a card maker, so it's always nice to try something else!  Check out this post to play along!

I made a tag that can be given to a Grandma (like I made) or any other lovely lady in your life, all you have to do is change the sentiment!  I used the For Every Woman stamp set by SP & Company for both the main image and the 'Grandma' sentiment.  I stamped my image on the X-Press It Blending Paper with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
For the flower petals I used Copics: R22, R20 and 0 (Colorless Blender), for the center: Y35, Y23 and Y11, for the stem: G24, G21, G20, and for the vase: B21 and B0000.  In the center I also used my Spica Glitter Pen in clear, even though it's hard to tell in the pics.
The background paper is from the Faded Florals 6x6 paper pad by Wild Rose Studio.

I couldn't find a good way to loop the ribbon through the hole in the top of the tag, so I brought out my trusty Divine Baker's Twine in Oyster and tied all of the ends together in a bow!

For some added interest I used Glossy Accents on the vase so it would look more like glass.

Here is the 'Grandma' sentiment which I stamped in gray and then cut and folded into a little banner.  It's very faint, but I also stamped the other flower from the For Every Woman stamp set in yellow behind the sentiment.  I finished the whole thing off with some adhesive backed pearls and white gel pen stitch lines.
Thanks for looking!  :)

Tuesday Tips ~ LaLa Land Crafts

Hello!  Michelle here with some Tuesday Tips for you!

I'm often asked how I pick the Copic colors I use on my cards, because people just aren't sure what colors to put together.  Well...I let the designer paper pick my Copic colors!   I never start coloring my images until I've made a decision on the papers I will be using.

For today's cards I chose to use papers from Wild Rose Studio's Kalahari Dreams Paper Pack.  I chose the designer paper above and then laid it on my Copic Marker Color Chart....a perfectly easy way to pick the perfect colors!  You can see the colors and Spica Glitter Pens I used below:

For my second card, I again chose my designer paper and matched up my Copic Markers and accessories.
And one final tip on my fussy cutting....turn your paper, not your scissors, as you are cutting.

I loved coloring these adorable images from LaLa Land Crafts:  Roller Skate Marci and Fancy Marci.

iCopic Weekly Challenge #40

Hey there! Samantha here with this week's challenge!

Now, don't be scared, but this challenge is going to be really difficult for some of us! I just want you to think outside the box and give it a try.

The challenge: Anything but a card
I know some of you just shuddered when you read that, but you can do this!! Think scrapbook layouts, mini pages, gift sets, 3d items, tags, gift tags, bookmarks, wall art, etc. There are so many options so get creative and see what you can come up with.

Copic Markers

Add a direct link to your pastel project below. Projects are due on July 31st at noon PST. A winner will be chosen at random to receive this week's prize AND be showcased right here on the iCopic blog Sunday evening!

For the inspiration project, I decided to make a scrapbook layout and I decided to use my handy dandy Copic Airbrush System. If you need more inspiration, please see the end of this post because I have a list of past projects that fit this challenge.

What I did was cut out my letters out of cheap cardstock using a die cut machine, taped them to my page with repositionable tape (you don't want them to rip your paper when you peel them off later), and then airbrushed around them with my Copic C7 marker.  When I was done, I just peeled the letters off and threw them into my recycle bin.

So link up your project below:

A new cutie in the tub ~

TGIF!!!  It's been a week...let me tell you!  Alyssa here with a squeaky clean cutie for you from the Crafthouse Press line of rubber stamps.  Meet Dandelion Bathtime!
This is Dandelion stamped a couple of times in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored on X-Press It blending cardstock.  {Sorry this photo is so dark!  I have a new laptop and I'm adjusting to editing the photos on it!  Plus, I held it at a funny angle so you could see the shimmer and shine of the bubbles.}  The rug is paper pieced with the Wild Rose Studio Faded Florals paper pack and lightly shaded with V20 and C3.  I paper pieced the tub over the original image and placed it on super thin dimensionals.  For even more interest next time, I'll do the bunny hands and little towel as a 3rd layer.  The bubbles are covered in opal Liquid Pearls and stardust Stickles.  And here's the card
The sentiment reads, "Rub a dub dub"  and inside, "a cutie in the tub"

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have a super weekend!  I know I'll be stalking my phone for updates from my buddy that gets to go to the PTI Stamp-a-faire!  ;o) lyss

Way 2 Go!

Hi everyone, Kelli here!  Today I have more of a masculine card to share with you!  It's using the adorable Footy Luka by La-La Land Crafts!  My dad and my fiancé love football so I was so excited to receive this stamp!!!  I admit that I struggle a little with masculine cards because I always wants to embellish with rhinestones, glitter, pearls, etc.  So for this card I tried to keep it simple and the girly embellishments to a minimum (exception of one little bow), hehe.  First I stamped this cutie in Memento, Tuxedo Black Ink and colored him with my Copics which I'll list together at the end.  The background paper is from the Wild Rose Studio, Kalahari Dreams 6x6 Paper Stack.  I think the orange and the green were great matches for his uniform and the grass.

In this close-up you can see the faint blue shadow around him.  I used B0000 and the Colorless Blender to achieve this look.  It's a little hard to tell in the picture, but I dotted the football with my Colorless Blender to help give it the texture of a real football.  Also, to accent the laces on the football and his shoes, I used a white gel pen so they'd stand out more.
Copics:
hair:  E31, Y35, Y21, Y11
skin:  YR00, E00, R20 (cheeks)
shirt, shorts' stripe, socks:  YR18, YR16, YR15
shorts, shoes:  B26, B24, B21
football:  E29, E37, E35
soles, shoe spikes: C7, C5
grass:  G24, G21, G20
sky:  B0000, 0 (Colorless Blender)

Thanks for stopping by!  :)

Penny Johnson - Scent of Sweet Memories

Dana here and look at this romantic stamp I had the privilege to ink!!
That is from Stampavie by Penny Johnson and is called Scent of Sweet Memories. I really want all of them!! They are so romantic and feminine.. I adore them!
Here's a close up:
I really had fun using this soft pastel palette. I didn't have any papers that really matched all of the colors I wanted so I just created my own. I stamped all over a white piece of cardstock with a postal script stamp I had in my stash with white pigment ink and heat embossed with white embossing powders. Then I ink distressed over that with Tim Holtz Distress Inks using Dusty Concord, Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick. My seam binding was also dyed using Spun Sugar Distress Ink.  I just ran the stamp pad right over the seam binding. Then I misted it slightly with water using my mini mister and crinkled the ribbon up. I used my heat tool to dry it quickly before creating my bow. Here's a close up of that:
The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn Sophies Sentiment set. Other supplies I used but haven't mentioned yet are Memento Ink and X-Press Tape.
You still have plenty of time to enter our Pastel Coloring challenge and I cannot wait to see what you create : )

Hugs~

Tuesday Tips and Tricks: Copic Storage

Hey everyone! Samantha here and today's Tuesday Tips and Tricks segment is all about Copic marker storage. First, I am going to show you my storage methods and then I have found links to some great Copic storage ideas that I have found.

So to get started, I made a video showing you my permanent Copic storage. This is how I store my markers UNLESS I plan on taking them somewhere.

It just so happens that iCopic.com sells two storage racks that look almost identical to my storage container shown below.
The only difference I can tell is that this one has smaller (but many more) cubbies. Click here to see the product page for this storage rack!

And also this one, which might be the exact same one that I have:
Click here to see the details on this storage rack!

When I went searching for Copic storage ideas for you guys, I came across the Artic Stamp Queen, who happens to store her Copics in the little Ikea bins I showed you in the video (hers are green, while the ones I showed you in the video are pink).

Now, if I plan on taking my markers with me somewhere, I pack 72 of them into my handy dandy marker wallet:
There are many sized wallets and iCopic just recently got them all back in stock. Click here to see all Copic storage available now! These wallets are AWESOME for traveling because they fold up nice and small and then when you want to color, they fan out so you can see all your colors. I seriously take this thing with me anywhere, the doctor's office, on vacation, in the car for long traveling. If you are wondering how it is possible to color on the move, then watch one of my older videos about how I streamline my coloring process, click here!

Now, I want to show you some of my favorite Copic storage ideas I have found on the internet!

Karen has a wonderful tutorial on how to create your own storage containers out of foam board:

On the StampTV discussion board, there is a great post about all the different ways that people store their Copics (including some photos!).

And you could always find a cute little cubbie or bin to store your markers in like the people below did.

Like this one I found on the Limetart Blog:

This one I found on the Papercraft Memories Blog:

And finally this one from our very own designer Alyssa:

Do you have a great Copic storage idea? Show us in the comments section below! We would love to see your method.
