Wild West Anya ~

TGIF!!  That means there are only 20 hours left of work this week! lol  As you read this, I am getting all 5 of my stores ready with a new sale promotion, ready for an entire store re-set and getting a couple other stores ready for inventory...not to mention training a new manager that has neither retail experience nor managerial experience!  Aack!  Anyhoo....

Today, I bring you Wild West Anya.  She was generously gifted to me from our previous DT member, Linda.  I thought she was just perfect for the iCopic Weekly Challenge #49 - Red Hair.
I went with the reddish browns for my red hair colors - E17, E19 and E27.  Her skirt and vest are in classic blue jean colors - B91, B95, B97 and B99.  Her buttons and buckle are covered in liquid pearls. (Yes, again!  I can't seem to get enough of these things!!)  They just remind me of pearl buttons on western style shirts, so I had to do it.
I used a paisley embossing folder as the base and swiped white ink over the raised parts...just like a bandana!  A simple layout and this little cowgirl is ready for anything!  Sorry for the lack of chit chat!
Hope you all have a super week!

Penguin Shaker

Hi, everyone, Kelli here!  Today I have something kind of fun to share with you, a shaker card!  When I was thinking about what I was going to make, I knew I wanted to use the cute little penguin from the SP & Company - Christmas Medley stamp set.  I just didn't know what I was going to do yet.  Then it hit me, his little belly was PERFECT for a shaker card!

I stamped him in Memento - Tuxedo Black ink and then colored him with Copics:  C9, C7 and C5 for his body.  For his hat I used R29, R27, R24 and R22 andYR15 and Y35 for his beak and feet.  I colored the white areas on his hat with B0000 and then put some glitter on top.  I cut him out with a circle Nestabilities die and then sponged around the edges using my Ink Blending Tool with the Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Broken China.

For the snowflakes in the background of his belly and the snowflakes on the sentiment I used the SP & Company - Christmas Emma stamp set with the Broken China ink.  To make a shaker card you just need a stamp that will work with what you want to do, a piece of acetate or in my case, thin plastic packaging, and some dimensional adhesive.  I cut the plastic piece bigger than his belly and then glued it to the underside of the image.  Then I created a sealed frame around it with dimensional adhesive so when I attached it to the circle piece in the back (with the snowflake stamping) it would hold in the glitter.  One word of advice, pull off the backing to your dimensional adhesive before adding the glitter, this will help avoid spilling the glitter all over, hehe.

For the sentiment I used the Christmas Emma set again and just added some bling!

 Thanks for stopping by!  :)

CC Designs Sunflower Lula

Happy Wednesday!! Dana here and today I have another one of my favorite stamp lines! Say hello to Swiss Pixies Sunflower Lula:
I made this for my daughter to send to my mom. They've always been extremely close and this is perfect for the two of them! My daughter loves butterflies and my mom loves black eyed susans so we'll just pretend that's what those are ; )
I printed Lula with Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black. The sentiment is from SP and Company For Every Woman set and I stamped that with Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa Brown. The sentiment was cut with a Spellbinders Fancy Tag die and while still in the die I airbrushed with YR18. I attached it to my card with some Divine Twine.  My papers are Wild Rose Studio.
Here's a close up:
And these are the colors I used:
Thanks so much for looking!! I hope you'll play along this week with our "Red Hair" challenge!

Hugs~

Winter friend

Hi there!  It’s Alyssa here, back after a much needed vacation!  Thank you so very much to Sami for filling in for me!  I have a wonderful new stamp from the Gorjuss line to share with you today.  Her name is Winter Friend
icopic gorjuss winter friend detail
I am quickly learning that my card making process goes much faster if I pick out my papers first – it just helps to get the whole ball rolling!  I paper pieced her dress with a beautiful gray paper from the Authentique Blissful line.  The sweet stars and sash on her dress are colored over with a Silver AtYou Spica pen - every girl needs a little sparkle!  Since I didn’t want to have a weird fussy cut around her hair, I stamped her head again on a scrap of the vintage cream cardstock and fussy cut the hair out.  Her polar bear friend is lightly colored with R02 (for the ears) and YR30 and YR31 for his fur.  They're just the right shades of yellow to color this guy with!

I wanted to use the oyster Divine Twine with all these wonderful grays, so I tied it into the image by coloring her tights and his collar to match.  To finish the image off, I sponged around the edges with Ranger Distress Antique Linen and added a few black rhinestones.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have a super weekend!

Sending You Smiles

Hi, everyone, Kelli here!  Today's card uses the adorable Mermaid Anya stamp by The Greeting Farm.  You can tell she's a favorite of the iCopic team!  I stamped her in the trusty Memento - Tuxedo Black Ink.  I want to first tell you about what I did with the card base.  I used the extremely awesome Fireworks Spray in Rose Bud.  First I punched out a bunch of different sized circles and attached them to a kraft card base with removable adhesive (to use as masks).  Then I spritzed it a couple times with the Fireworks Spay and removed the circles.  I absolutely love the vivid color and the awesome shimmer it has!  So pretty!!!  Also, they come in colors to match the Memento Inks!
The 'Sending You Smiles' sentiment I used came from the SP & Company - Ultimate Sentiments I set and it was stamped in the VersaFine - OnyxBlank ink.  I love this black ink for sentiments.  It takes a couple minutes to dry, but the crisp image it leaves is definitely worth it.

To color Mermaid Anya, I used Copics:
hair - E31, Y35, Y21, Y11 and Y000
skin - YR00, E00, E000
cheeks - R22 and R20
eye shadow and bikini top - RV29, RV25 and RV23 - AtYou Spica - Clear
tail - G28, G24, YG25 and YG23

After I colored her tail, I covered it in Glossy Accents (love this stuff!) and before it dried, I added a little pink and green glitter to the bottom fins.

The blue polka dot paper is from the Wild Rose Studio - Wintry Christmas 6x6 Paper Pad.  Ironically, it came from a Christmas pad, but I thought it was a perfect ocean/sky color for this card!  I also used the Authentique - Blissful 6x6 Paper Pad for the little yellow scalloped edge accent that you can see in the first picture.

I wanted to try to get a different angle on the Fireworks Spray so you could see the great shimmer that it has!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!  :)

TGF Blush Bonnie

Dana here and I know you just saw this image from Sami but it just goes to show you how much we all love her!! Our challenge this week is to color with our least favorite color. That's hard for me because I adore all colors but if I have to chose a least favorite I have to pick green only because it is a color that I never chose for clothing. It just doesn't look right with my skin tones. So here's my Blush Bonnie in a pretty green dress:
I grunged up all those edges with copic opaque.  I also used it with my stylus to apply the dots to the scalloped edge of my nestie and the little dot accents on the fancy tag. Here's a close up of Bonnie:
I tried a few different things on this. Not sure if I'll do them again, but you never know if you don't try, right? I used V91 to shade on her skin in addition to my normal skin tones. I also used chalk around my image instead of pure copics. I didn't like the way it looked so I added Peeled Paint Distress Ink. Still wasn't loving the chalk so then I went back in with V91 around the entire background. Then I added swirls with my colorless blender. It even worked over the Distress ink so how cool was that?
Here's my colors:
My papers are from Wild Rose Studio Faded Florals paper pack. I also stamped this time with Memento in Rich Cocoa Brown.
Thanks so much for looking! Come back every day for more inspiration from the rest of our amazing team : )
Hugs~

Tips n Tricks Tuesday ~ Stretch Your Sentiments!

It's Michelle here with Tips and Tricks Tuesday...and my tip for you this week is to think of your sentiment stamps in a whole new way!

How many times have you wanted to say a specific thing, and you don't have the exact sentiment you've got in mind?  It helps to have some of the fantastic SP & Company word sets that mix and match for many options, however I combined two of the sets to come up with sayings that were not in either set!

It's not uncommon to see mixed fonts within a set in a single sentiment, so feel free to mix fonts!  These sets are clear, so it makes it easy to line them up as you desire for a fresh new look!

Also take a peek at your designer papers...I used some glittered designs from a collection of designer paper and made some quick and easy cards.  Perfect to give as a gift or use when you don't have time to color with your Copics!

The sets I used were Candy Hearts and Mix 'n Match Family.  There are other fun sets to add to this to make many more combinations!  Have fun!

Blush Bonnie Take Two

Hey everyone! Samantha here again this Friday. Don't worry, Alyssa will be back next week!

So last Friday, I used Blush Bonnie, and so again today, I decided to use Blush Bonnie, except this time, I wanted to make her a red head! Red hair is something I haven't done before so here is my first try at it. I even gave her freckles!
Well, the freckles didn't turn out looking so good, but I think the hair is really pretty! I love the color you can get with Copics!

I used the following Copic colors:
  • For the skin: E00 and E01 (freckles were done with E08)
  • For the hair: E08, E09, and E19
  • For the outfit: V15, V91, and V95
  • For the shadow: W1 and W3
Then I added a sentiment from the SP and Company Bold Sentiments I stamp set.

Well, that's all I have for you today. The very lovely Dana is going to do the Saturday Spotlight for you all tomorrow. Be sure to upload your Copic projects to our Facebook page for a chance to be showcased right here on our blog!

Trick or Treat

Hi, everyone, Kelli here!  I hope you're having a great day!  Today I have another relatively simple card for you.  I have been challenging myself to try and keep some of my projects simple because I am one of those people that never feels like I'm done, so I end up adding and adding.  I even still feel like this card needs something more, lol!  I focused on coloring a background for this project.  It's not necessarily a tradition Halloween card at all, but I tried to stick to more common Halloween colors.  I used the long vine type stamp from the Lawn Fawn - Blissful Botanicals set which I stamped in Memento - Tuxedo Black ink.  I stamped them going up and down and then altered the direction.  Speaking of Lawn Fawn, iCopic just got in all the new Fall/Winter 2011 releases, they are adorable...head on over and check them out!

Here's a closeup of the background.  You can see that it's a little busy and colorful, so that's another reason I wanted to keep the card simple.  To color all of these leaves, I used Copics: G28, G24 and G20 for the green.  YR16, YR15 and YR00 for the orange.  For the purple, V09, V06 and V05, and last but not least C9, C7 and C5 for the black.

I finished it off with a little stamped sentiment tag, a button and some cute Divine Baker's Twine in Green Apple.

Thanks for stopping by!  :)

Waiting Tilda

Dana here and what a fun challenge we have this week, High Contrast coloring!! I love this Magnolia stamp called Waiting Tilda:
To me she looks like she's praying so the sentiment from SP and Company set Lovely Labels is just perfect!!  My papers are Wild Rose Studio.
I showed you last week on my Fizzy Moon card how I use the X-Press It Double sided Adhesive tape to add glitter. Here I used the 1/8" width around my oval nestie shape:
Here's the colors I used:
I hope you will show us your stuff this week in our challenge. Also, please share any of your other copic projects with us on our Facebook page. You may just find yourself highlighted on our Saturday post : )

Hugs~
