Embellishment Customization ~

Hi iCopic fans!  It's Alyssa here today with a quick and fun card.  First off, I'd like to thank Samantha for helping me out last week.  I've been going through some rough times here, so she jumped in and covered for me.  Nothing like a fabulous design team lead!!  Thanks, little lady!

When these tough times come upon us, sometimes we need a quick card to show our appreciation.  I decided to use the new and fun SP & Company set, Mix 'n Match: Family.  Such a wonderful and versatile set with a gorgeous swirly font for some of the larger, leading words and a type font for all the members of a family from your grandmother to your niece!
I wanted to use a sentiment as the focal point of this card and was searching my stash for something to alter.  I came across these plain white, paper flowers and decided to customize them for my needs.  I think I have converted myself to altering embellishments with my Copics from now on!

First, I picked out the designer paper I wanted to use on the card and matched my Copics.  I then set about to color the flowers.  These flowers have a nice texture, so all I had to do was lay down my lightest color as the base, swipe the medium red up from the center to about the middle of the petal, and swipe the darkest red from the center out just below the medium red.  The flower is finished off with some die cut felt leaves and a yellow glitter brad.
The sentiment needed to pop on a simple card like this, so I framed it with a die cut and embossed it.  The absolute best ink for embossing sentiments and finer detail stamps is Versafine Onyx Black ink.   I use a clear detail embossing powder and never have trouble with beautiful coverage.  Some dimensional foam tape pops the designer paper up from the card base and you have a beautiful, customized card for a friend in a matter of minutes!

Before I go, I have to remind you that iCopic is carrying the 12 new Copic Sketch colors introduced at CHA Winter 2011 along with tons of fantastic new stamps!  They now have Magnolia, Stampavie, and Lawn Fawn, as well as the adorable La-La Land!  Lots of fun goodies and great prices!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you have a fabulous weekend!  :o) lyss

Birthday Fun Card

It's Wednesday...you know what that means! Wanda here! It's my turn to make a project here on the iCopic Blog! Today's card features the lovely Birthday Anya stamp and a retro color palette with a new shape. I used tons of markers on this one...and I tried a new color of hair. Let me know what you think!
The finished card is about a four inch square. I used the largest size round scallop nestie and then fit the smaller circles inside. I put one gingham circle with the pattern straight up and down (red one) and the other gingham circle on a diagonal (blue one) for visual interest. I crammed a lot of stuff on that little card - lemme tell ya!

These are all the Copics I used on this one!

I tried a new color combination for hair this time, so I thought I would share it. I wanted really soft light golden hair. You'll see that all of my colors were not from the same color group. I was winging it!

Filled with Color Card

Hello everyone!

Samantha here, filling in for Alyssa today!  And I have a nice colorful card for you featuring a brand new stamp set from SP and Company. This stamp set is called Lucky Day.

The rainbow was colored in with the following Copic colors:
  • Purple Layer: BV02, BV04, and BV13
  • Blue Layer: B00, B02, and B05
  • Green Layer: YG11, YG06, and G14
  • Yellow Layer: Y02, Y06, and Y08
  • Orange Layer: YR00, YR07, and YR16
  • Red Layer: R00, R29, R59
To get the very lightest area in the center of the rainbow, I used the colorless blender (number 0) to push the color towards the ends of the rainbow.

And as you can see, the red part ran a little bit because I colored it too quickly after the yellow layer and my yellow layer wasn't all the way dried yet!  When coloring with Copics, you do have to be a little patient and let touching areas dry before coloring them.

Glassy Card

HIYA! Wanda signing in with my weekly post for the iCopic Blog! I colored this image quite a while ago and it is one that I use as an example in my Copic classes. I finally turned it into a card! A shabby, vintagey card! I think it nicely illustrates a different way to use your Copic Markers to achieve a soft, glassy feel.
A

Here are the colors that I used - you can see I used very light shades in four different color families. When coloring, I left a lot of white space in the center of the bottles. I did this so that the images would appear see through, just like glass. I used my colorless blender pen extensively to push the color out the back of the paper (see pic below) so that just a very small amount of color was left.
B

Here is the back side of my image. See that there is more color on the back than on the front!? That is because I kept using my blender pen over and over until I got the effect I wanted.
C
Here is a close up of the coloring of the bottles...

G
I hope you will give this new technique a try with your markers! Have a wonderful week...until I see you again!
