Boo and a farewell ~

Hiya friends!  Hope you all are having a wonderful and warm week!  We were hit with a very wet snowstorm on Tuesday/Wednesday that tore through the trees around my area like a tornado.  So sad!  As I’m typing this up on Thursday night, I’ve just heard from my hubby that our power is back on!!  Yay!  We won’t have to endure another night in the house without heat!!  With that being said, I apologize for the lighting of the photos…no power means no light box!  Oh, the horror!!  lol
I wanted to make a fun little Halloween card for you today.  I chose to work the sassy little devil from The Greeting Farm’s Naughty or Nice set.  Since the challenge here on the iCopic blog this week is orange and black, I thought I’d do a little doodling and draw her sitting in a bed of flames.  I mean, really, isn’t a devil supposed to be in flames?!?  Truth be told, my husband drew the flames for me – he’s the artist in the family, I just like to color!  lol
icopic naughty flames
He drew them lightly with a pencil first and then outlined them with a 0.3mm Copic multiliner.  I used the multiliner specifically because I didn’t want the black lines to bleed at all.  Her purple outfit is supposed to be a little gauzy and see through, so I colored and shaded her skin tone first and then went over it with BV02.  On the flames I used an embarrassing number of markers and then went back and added some shine and glitter with Lemon and Orange AtYou Spica pens.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t capture the shimmer in any pics I took – sorry!  You’ll just have to use your imagination.  ;o)
icopic naughty flames dHere’s a little close up along with the list of Copics:
BV02, BV08, BV13, BV29, C1, C3, C5, C7, C9, E00, E02, E11, R20, R24, R29, R59, YR12, YR18, Y11

Now for a little extra news…I’m sorry and saddened to say that I need to end my term on the design team with iCopic.  I’ve had so much fun and pushed myself to try things that I wouldn’t have otherwise.  Unfortunately, I feel that my time is just being stretched too thin with a new promotion at work, family and my want/obsessive need to always give you all my best.  I kind of like my family ;o) and we have to put food on the table {gasp!}, so I’m refocusing my energy and opening the door for someone new and fabulous to work with this amazing company and the wonderful artists on the design team.  It’s been so great to get the encouraging comments and sweet thoughts from all of you!  Thank you!  And Thank You, iCopic, for allowing me to be a part of your team for this time!  Farewell friends!

Happy Holidays

Hi, everyone, Kelli here with a masculine Christmas card to share with you!  I have been making quite a few holiday cards, but really haven't made one specifically for a guy.  If this is just for a friend, you may want to leave out the heart, lol.  I used the super cute Wild Sprouts Edward stamp by The Greeting Farm which I stamped in my trusty Memento - Tuxedo Black ink.

To color Edward I used Copics:  E27, E25 and E23 for his hair.  For his skin I used E21 and E00 and R20 for his cheeks.  After seeing this picture, I probably would have added a little bit of R22 to make them a little more rosy, only because when you're cold, your cheeks are pink!  For his shirt I used G28 (sparingly), G07, G05 and G02 and for the vest R29, R27, R24 and R22, and then when it was dry I took R29 and drew some horizontal and vertical stripes.  B37 (sparingly), B34 and B32 were used for his pants, and last but not least, C7 and C5 for his shoes.

Don't forget to check out iCopic's selection of awesome 6x6 paper pads.  I don't think it's possible to ever have enough, do you?  Hehe.  :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!  :)

Six Gorjuss Cards!

This post is for iCopic and I decided to play with the Gorjuss Girl Die Cut Decoupage Kit pieces that Ashley sent my way.

The quick overview on the site says the die cuts are produced on light card/heavyweight paper, with a splash of glitter. Decoupage sizes are suitable for creations on A5 / 5x7" cards and smaller for some toppers.

I made SIX A2 cards with the pieces I was sent.  This is a great way to make a set of cards for a gift, or a quick card for any reason.  I had fun playing with papers from my scrap drawers to make this set of cards.

The faux *button* on this one is actually punched from the packaging...yep...I'm nifty that way!

There are many beautiful Gorjuss stamps in the store as well as these kits....so be sure to check them all out for some hours of creative fun!

Tuesday Tips and Tricks: Snow

Hello everyone!  Samantha here with this week's Tuesday Tips and Tricks segment.

With winter holidays coming up, I wanted to start talking a bit about some winter themed techniques and such. Today, I am here to talk to you about SNOW! Snow is one of those "white" objects that can be colored with many different color combinations.

Here are some color combos that I would recommend for you to test out:
  • B0000, B000, B00 (for a blueish-icy colored snowman)
  • BG0000, BG000 (for blueish-icy colored snowman)
  • E0000, E000, E40 (for a more rustic type snowman)
Get creative and try different color combos until you are happy with your results.

Here are some snowmen examples with some additional color combos:

For this snowman I used: W1 and W0 to color in the snowman. I wanted to use warm tones to color him in rather than cool tones, because all of the brown I was going to be using. If I had colored him in with B's he would look pretty funky.

For this snowman, I used the following colors: B000, B21, B23, B41, B45
I did a faux watercolor stipple technique on him to give the snow some texture.

On this snowman, I used BG70 and blended it out a lot using the colorless blender.

Coloring snow, or anything white for that matter, can be a little challenging so practice a little and see what you can create.

What are your favorite snow color combos? Please share them in the comments section below. We would love to hear about them!

Just a Note Bear Card

Hey everyone!! Happy Saturday! Samantha here bringing you a super easy note card:

Card Details:
  • The adorable little bear is from Wild Rose Studio and is called Milton with Card.
  • I colored in the image with the following Copic colors: E31, E33, E51, RV23, and RV29.  Like I talked about in this week's Tuesday Tips and Tricks, you don't have to have a bunch of colors to attain great coloring results. I only used 5 colors on this little guy.
That is all I have for you all today! Make sure you play along with this week's iCopic challenge because we are giving away a Copic carrying case!!! How cool is that?!

Pot of Gold ~

TGIF!  I don’t know about you, but October is flying by for me!  I got the sweetest little set from SP and Company stamps the other day and just had to stamp it out.  It’s called Lucky Day.  I felt the need for a little sparkle and lots of color, so I stamped out a pot of gold and a rainbow to play around with.

icopic lucky

The rainbow is colored in three shades of each color – R24, R27, R29; YR04, YR07, YR18; Y11, Y15, Y26; YG17, YG23, YG25; B14, B18, B24; BV02, BV13, BV17 – giving a small highlight right at the bend of the rainbow.  The cauldron is colored in cool greys.  Cool greys are used for metal pieces – C3, C5, C7.  It’s a blue toned grey so it works well for that *cold* feeling.

Here’s a little detail shot of the gold prize!  I colored it first with Y28 and then went over it with a Gold AtYou Spica pen.  I really didn’t need the base color.  When covering an item with glitter, I always color the item a base color because I get better coverage; however, with the AtYou Spica pens, you get great color coverage and great glitter coverage!   Check out that sparkle!!

Thanks for stopping by!  *May You Always Find the Gold at the End of the Rainbow*, my friends!!  Have a spectacular weekend!

Hello, baby!

Hi, everyone!  It's Kelli with a cute baby card for you that goes along with this week's challenge!  I used the adorable Toby and Butterfly stamp by Wild Rose Studio which is stamped in Memento - Tuxedo Black ink on X-Press It Copic Blending Paper.

To color this cute little guy, I used Copics: E27, E25 and E23 for his body, E31 and E21 for his ears, muzzle and belly.  For the flowers I used V15, V12, V06 and V05.  For the stems and grass I used G24 and G21.  The butterflies were done with YR15, Y35 and Y13.  For the butterfly trails I used B32.  After I was done coloring them I outlined it all in N0 to help give it a slight shadow.

The purple polkadot paper that is behind the main image is from the Wild Rose Studio - Wintry Christmas 6x6 Paper Pad.  I added a cute "hello baby" sentiment with a punch and some pearls at the bottom to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  :)

Sew Lovely!

Today I'm sharing a card using Lawn Fawn's set called Sew Lovely.  I paired it up with Authentique's Blissful Collection.

I paper pieced the dress and used YR24 to add some shading detail to the image.  I stamped the sewing machine directly on the designer paper and used W5 and W3 to add some shading detail.

Other card details include faux stitching, wide ricrac, a vintage button and some blanket binding that I shaped into a rosette.
iCopic has a wide variety of designer paper pads that, if you are like me, you will want to collect!  Also, if you are a Copic Marker buff...the new Copic carrier is soooooo cool!  Check it out!

Tuesday Tips and Tricks: Color Stretch

Hey there!  Samantha here with this week's Tuesday Tips and Tricks segment.

Today my trick is stretching your Copic colors! On my card for today, I colored in her outfit using TWO pink copic markers: RV10, and RV32. I just varied how much of the darker color (RV32) I used on each part of her outfit to make each part look lighter or darker than the rest.

You can tell that her shoes and dress look darker than her stockings, sleeve, and wing. I got so much out of stretching these two markers.

This is a great trick to use when you are just starting out, or if you don't have a huge collection of colors to choose from. You can really get a lot of use out of each marker just by varying how much light or dark you use.

Sometimes when you have fewer colors to work with, you have to think outside the box.

  • The little girl is from CC Designs, called Swiss Pixie Sweetheart Birgitta.
  • I colored her in with the following Copics from iCopic.com:
    • RV10, RV32
    • E000, E00, E01, E30, E31, E35, E37, E49, E57, E27
    • YG00, YG05, YG25, YG61
  • The sentiment is from the SP and Company Mini Card Creations II stamp set.
Now, what colors have you stretched out? We would love to know how you colored in some great variety using only a very few markers. Leave us a comment below!
